Tech Documentaries

After Honeypot closed, the filmmakers behind its documentaries went independent as Tech Documentaries. Their films, made with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Red Hat and GitHub, have millions of views. I designed the brand: a wordmark with colour stripes, stationery, and posters built on the line 'Rewinding the future'. I also designed the website and built it in Webflow.

The wordmark

TECH in bold, DOCUMENTARIES in light capitals. The U and the M share a stroke. Under the name run five stripes, in ink, orange, red, green and blue, like the label on an old tape.

02

Rewinding the future

The company's line, and the brief for the posters: 80s and 90s hardware in front of the stripes. A cassette, a VHS tape, a keyboard and a set of keycaps, each with the company's pitch in small type at the bottom.

Stationery

Business cards, letterhead and the company manifesto, in the same type and stripes.

The website

I designed techdocumentaries.com and built it in Webflow. The hero plays the company reel. The films sit on a shelf of VHS tapes, one spine for each documentary: Node.js, Kubernetes, Vue.js, React and the rest. The companies they filmed for sit on a stack of beige computers, one logo per screen.
